Psoriasis Month

Psoriasis is caused by an overactive immune system that targets the skin cells and makes them generate very rapidly. Whereas a typical skin cell turns over about once a month, for people with psoriasis, the process may only take a few days. The rapid turnover causes the cells to visibly collect in thick patches (known as “plaques”) on the surface of the skin, and can feel sore or itchy. While symptoms vary from time to time, infections, stress, medications, or environmental changes can aggravate psoriasis.

Specially formulated sensitive-skin treatments (creams or ointments) can help reduce the symptoms of psoriasis. If psoriasis continues to present problems or cause discomfort, talk to your doctor about additional treatment options for you.

Testimonial

“Nefertari’s products have been extremely efficient in treating my dry, reactive skin, which is particularly sensitive around the mouth (the part between the mouth and the nose is usually very red and itchy). Both the cream and lotion have instant soothing and cooling effects that stop the itching and re-hydrate my skin, acting like a protective barrier. Unlike other creams I have tested, Houria’s line does not burn or tingle even when my skin is very irritated or broken. The irritation is progressively diminished, and my skin recovers a softer aspect”

  • Make your trip Better by Using 3-1-1

  • Pack cosmetics, including liquids and gels, in the luggage that you are checking if you would rather not carry smaller containers on board. However, if you prefer to have your makeup with you to touch up after a long flight, or if you are concerned about your luggage being lost or delayed and don’t want to spend time at your destination trying to replace foundation or mascara, you can bring small portions of those “must-haves” in your carry-on luggage.
  • All personal cleaning items like shampoo and conditioner must be in containers no larger than three ounces. You can usually find these small plastic bottles at your local discount store or drugstore chain in the toiletries section.
  • Pick your essential cosmetic liquids from our Travel Kits for Face & Body 1 oz. bottles. Place all those 1 oz. bottles into a quart-sized clear plastic zip-top bag. The TSA allows one bag per passenger.

Find The Right Sun Screen!

Long, glorious, sunny summer days are just around the corner. That’s a good thing,
even for your skin.
Start your Prepare/Protect/Repair regimen now to give your skin exactly the support it needs to survive and thrive all summer long.
By having the best information available, you can make smart choices about protecting your skin. There are some basic things to keep in mind:

  • Wear light-colored, protective clothing
  • Try to stay out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day
  • Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. Keep extra water on hand, in the car, or in your bag
  • Wear effective sunscreen, with a high SPF number to block out UV-A and UV-B rays
  • Take your own portable shade, such as a hat or umbrella
  • Wear loose clothing that allows for natural cooling
  • Avoid smoking, which can contribute to dehydration and wrinkles.

The largest organ of the body is the skin. Summer activities are fun and energetic, so it is even more important to enjoy the benefits of sunshine while also protecting the skin against any harmful effects.
